Employee Spotlight: Bernard Firmalino Aguirre, Electronics Engineer

The Employee Spotlight series provides a chance to meet the people behind Ackcio’s success. In this edition of the Employee Spotlight, we feature Bernard Firmalino Aguirre, our Electronics Engineer who joined Ackcio in March 2021. 

Please introduce yourself and your role at Ackcio.

Hi, my name is Bernard. I joined Ackcio in March this year as an Electronics Engineer.

What drew you to Ackcio when you initially started, and how has the company changed since then?

I was drawn to Ackcio due to the IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) industry. It is quite a new industry and an exciting time to be part of it. The company and our products have expanded to support customers in reducing costs, improving worker safety, and complying with local regulatory requirements. There have been numerous learning opportunities and working methods implemented to launch these products.

What does your job entail?

As an Electronics Engineer, I design and create hardware for existing and future Ackcio devices. This also includes enhancing existing devices to boost our product performance. I also analyse customer needs, determine their requirements to come up with new product features.

How would you describe your professional growth in Ackcio?

There are numerous growth opportunities in Ackcio, but I’m still more inclined on the technical side of things. Hopefully, in a few year’s time, I will have the opportunity to become the system architect for the products in Ackcio, as IIoT itself is quite a new industry and there are great learning opportunities.

What are the three traits that define you?

Geek, Workaholic, Serious (hahaha)

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

No one is indispensable. The world has gotten a lot more uncertain and unclear for everyone. We need to embrace it to live through the tough times.

How do you unwind after a long day at Ackcio?

I do mountain biking on weekends. Riding a mountain bike is addictive as it frees my mind and helps me stay strong and fit.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Flying, so I don’t need to pay for airfare. Haha. I love to travel as it inspires me to see and try new things.
